"Creating a Dynamic
Learning Community with Traditional Dance, Song and Storytelling"
Peter
and Mary Alice Amidon are versatile and widely respected performing and teaching artists who for the past twenty years have
dedicated themselves to traditional song, dance and storytelling. Peter and Mary Alice are familiar faces at the major northeast
U.S. music and dance festivals,
at teacher conferences, and at summer folk camps of traditional dance and song. They have performed concerts and led residencies
in hundreds of schools, libraries and churches.
The
Amidons have released seven albums of songs for children and adults. They are founding members of the New England Dancing Masters: publishers of recordings and books of traditional dance
for children and community dance leaders.
Oakwood school is the newest addition to the Allendale school complex, next door to Evergreen School where we have held
earlier workshops.
From I-196, exit on Rt. 45 (Lake Michigan Drive) West, towards Allendale. Cross 68th Ave and then make a Michigan
U turn in order to go South on 68th Ave. Turn Right on Pierce, then Right on Learning Lane. Follow the signs to
Oakwood School.

"The ABC's of Music Education"
Doug Goodkin is an internationally recognized teacher of Orff Schulwerk,
having taught courses in over 35 countries worldwide. He is in his 35th year at The San Francisco School, teaching children
between three years old and eighth grade. He also teaches regularly at The Orff Institut in Salzburg, directs The San Francisco
Orff Certification Course and teacheshe his own course on Jazz and Orff Schulwerk throughout the world. He is
the author of seven books, most recently, Intery Mintery: Nursery Rhymes for Body, Voice and Orff Ensemble.
Lunch will be available for purchase from the Olivet College food service.
Olivet College is located 30 miles south of Lansing, just off of I69. Follow signs to the main campus. Workshop in
the Upton Conservatory. Look for signs.

"Sing, Chant, Move & Play: What to Do in Music Day after Day."
Christina M. Hornbach is assistant professor of music and
head of music education at Hope
College, Holland, Michigan.
Hornbach specializes in early childhood and elementary general music methods and materials, research, and the psychology of
music. She has taught general music int the public schools in Michigan and Minnesota as well as early childhood
music at Michigna State University's Community Music School and Eastern Michigan University's Community Music Academy.
Hornbach recently founded an early childhood music program, Early Bird Music, for the Western Michigan community.
Hope College is on 11th Street in Holland, MI. The workshop will be in the Maas Conference Center in the
Maas Conference Room. Check out the campus map <http://www.hope.edu/tour/map.htm> - Maas is right directly where
11th Street and Columbia intersect. The conference room is on the 1st floor just past the Auditorium. There is an entrance
on Columbia and one from the campus side. The building is attached to Phelps Hall. Look for signs!
Artie Almeida

"Fun with Fundamentals"
Dr. Artie
Almeida has taught for 30 years and is the music specialist at Bear Lake Elementary school in Orlando FL, where she teaches 1150 K-5 students. Her dynamic performing
groups have performed for MENC, AOSA, and on the NBC Today Show.
She has
worked as an early childhood music consultant for Walt Disney World and is the author of 21 published resources for the music
classroom.
In addition
to her public school teaching duties, Artie adjuncts classes at the University of Central
Florida, teaches
private saxophone lessons and performs on historical winds with the renaissance ensemble Ars
Antiqua.
This workshop is part of our membership series, but members must confirm their attendence with
Meyer Music. Non-members must contact Meyer Music directly to register.
Workshop will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Grand Rapids.
